    1. Yes, it's great, but what am I going to wear? Any ideas? Dresses at Barney's are $7000. Yikes!

    2. Consignment stores can supply elegant gowns that have only been worn once or twice at a fraction of their original cost. About ten years ago when I was preparing to sail on the QEII to celebrate my 50th birthday, I found a beautiful dark blue silk and velvet floor length gown for only $12 at a consignment shop in my small GA town, and it looked as nice as any other dress on board. So I'm sure you might find something equally flattering and reasonable if you ask your friends--most women do have a favorite shop or two they can recommend. Denise

  3. Lara, if not for your, Kathies amd Jonathan's performances, ther would be no Johnny Depp movie.
Talent with money is tough but, talent on a shoe string budget is just pure talent. I hope you have a wonderful time at the premere. My best, Michael Lipowski

    1. How sweet of you to say that Michael. But I am beginning to think the movie will be marvelous. I hope it is a huge success, naturally, with great crowds and glowing reviews. I was a little skeptical when I saw the first trailer, but it has grown on me. Johnny Depp is an inventive and versatile actor with charisma and mystery. A little bit of comedy will make it more in keeping with today's tastes.

    2. I saw the movie twice ... Only to see you, Kathryn, Jonathan and David for those few seconds..... Other than that, I truly hated what they did to the show.... I got to meet you in 1998 when they first book had just come out.... It was the highlight of my LA trip.....

  4. Hmmm...I wouldn't call myself a fashion expert however I do have to say you can never go wrong with a classic black dress on the red carpet. ;)

  9. Dear Lara,

This is a poem about the ancient myth of Sappho who's said to have jumped off this promontory in the Greek Isles. Some say it's a "misogynistic" rumor. But the place is real and the early Catholic chuch had prisoners jump off of it to see if they were innocent or not. If they survived the fall they were innocent! People were allowed to help them by padding them with feathers.

    "Leucata"

    One summer, musing
    about ancient myths and poetry,

    I dreamt about a promontory
    where desperate souls leapt
    to rid themselves of hopeless
    love.  Afraid of slipping into
the sea of adultery I clung
to the rock of fidelity. Finally,

    I woke up and realized
    that man wasn’t Phaeon
    and I am not Sappho.

    Sincerely Yours,
    Cynthia

  11. Hi Lara!

Last week I was at Target and noticed a DVD titled "Dark Shadows - The Greatest Episodes Collection" and grabbed it immeadiately! I have very fond memories of watching Dark Showdows with my dear sister (R.I.P. 2005) when it originally aired. (I was born in 1958 and my sis was 4 years older) It was exciting stuff back then and still enjoyable today!

I was watching DS today and was inspired by your incredible beauty to do a Google search to see what you've been up to all these years. :-) I was pleased to see your new site, (and wowed by the fact you are stunning to this day . . . are you sure you aren't a vampire? ;-), but also very sad to read about Jonathan Frid's passing. Thank you for the wonderful tribute you wrote, it brought me to tears several times.

Congrats on all your successes and I wish you many more. And yes, while many a housewife may have wished for a Barnabas bite, I'm positive that I was just one of a million young lads that would have whole heartedly welcomed a long deep passionate bite from the drop dead gorgeeous and sexy Angelique! :-)

Take care and thank you again! XXOXOX

  14. Dear Lara,

Good luck at the premier and thanks again for keeping the dream alive! Wish I had off 5/11/12. I find myself thinking about Dan, Grayson & Sam, Joan, Louis and of course Jonathan now. By the way the name of the movies based on HJ's story Berkeley Square is "I'll never forget you" and Tyrone Power took Leslie Howard's role in the remake. You probably know that Dan took his idea for the possession of the children and "Quintin" from HJ's The Turn of the Screw which was made into the movie "The Innocents" with Deborah Kerr. The ghost was Peter Quint. Dan was influenced by such others like Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, The Lottery,The Leviathans, Frankenstein and several more. I'm sure most know that a dream of a woman on a train during winter inpsired him to do DS in the first place. Of course his wife encouraged him to pursue it and his kids suggested the 'vampire'. In their honor...legacy...let's keep it going.

  15. Dear Lara =
You totally missed the point of Dark Shadows. When you say the show was campy when you cursed the corpses to go back in the grave - as young people we took that very seriously. The show to us was not campy at all. It was very much a serious story. As you said: "we played it straight." I hope you understand that.

  19. Ms Parker, I had such a crush on you way back when, and apparently still have it! Laughing here. Your beauty and grace persist m'lady.

You and Jonathan WERE Dark Shadows, and still are. Kudos to Mr Depp and Mr Burton for their honoring of you and the memory of Jonathan.

  20. Dear Lara,

Here's my other version of the ancient cliff and legend.

    Promontory

The Rock of Leucas juts out
to sea by Cephallenia and a
    Temple of Apollo.  The Sun

God was to catch those souls
    desperate to jump and rid
    themselves of sad love. Sappho

the tenth muse is said to have
    leapt there because Phaeon
    the ferryman abandoned her.

    Sincerely Yours,
    Cynthia

  23. Your writing is warm and encompassing, not sure if you have any Austen or Shelly influence, but if it's okay, I'd like to say there's a little of that era in your writings. Seen you on video speaking live from your home during last year's NYCC. I must say, you've only grown more beautiful, your smile seems unstoppable. Got a chance to see you on Kolchak, Night Stalker the other day on Netflix. You're were fabulous. I forgot you were Mrs. Banner on Incredible Hulk pilot. My wife and I were watching one of your interviews on DS discs. We were so glued to the screen, you really had the most far out things to say about mysticism and spiritualism. Your words were quite important. I know you did a Rockford Files, we're going to check that out too. Please, if you have a chance, post some videos of yourself; a video journal of sorts if you will. Please think about it. I think I speak for all your supporters when I say we'd so love that. Peace, ma'am...

  24. I am a long time Dark Shadows fan and would love to invite you and Katherine Lee Scott to TEXAS! We have a great horror convention every year the first weekend in may. Go to the website "Texas Frightmare Weekend" and contact Loyd Cryer. It is located in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. We also have book fairs and all the major chains of book stores that book guests. A Dark Shadows reunion at the horror convention would give us Texans a real treat.

  25. So when is the next book due out?

  26. Dear Lara,
I am and always have been a huge fan. I reiterate the above comments about you and Jonathan Frid. You made Dark Shadows.

I have recently sent a check and order for your book, "Angelique's Descent" to be autographed by you for my mom. She will be so surprised.

I have to give it to her to read first then I will grab it and read. I will be ordering more from you upon arrival of this book.

I am so happy to hear and see that you are keeping the spirit of Dark Shadows alive...and by the way, you still look stunning, any secrets???

Are there any plans to visit South Florida any time in the future? I hope so, we kind of get left out of a lot of the great people...I will be visiting San Diego in January February, so if there are any signings, or appearances you will be making please let me know.

    Thank you so much, Betty
